If you are flying through SYD and want to find the best lounge at Sydney Airport in 2026, this guide ranks the contract and pay to use lounges we have reviewed so far for food, drinks, comfort, views, and overall value.
Because Sydney has both international and domestic terminals, it is worth noting that The House Sydney and Plaza Premium Lounge Sydney are in Terminal 1 for international flights, while the REX Lounge is in Terminal 2 for domestic flights. Even so, this guide still gives a clear ranking based on overall lounge quality.

Lounge Rankings at Sydney Airport
3. the REX Lounge Sydney Terminal 2, 2 out of 10
The REX Lounge Sydney Terminal 2 ranks last by a long distance and is one of the weakest airport lounges reviewed so far. While it does offer a quiet space away from the terminal and some partial runway views, almost everything else feels well below the standard expected from a paid or membership lounge at a major airport like Sydney.
Best for:
- A quiet lounge away from the gate area
- Natural light and partial runway views

Food and drinks:
Food and drinks are the main weakness here. Breakfast was extremely poor, with only toast, cornflakes, pre packaged yoghurt and granola, muffins, cookies, and banana bread on offer. There was nothing fresh at all, not even fruit, and the whole spread felt far below even a basic lounge standard.
Drinks were not much better. The coffee machine produced a poor latte and americano, while soft drinks and juices were available in a fridge. Alcohol was locked away until 3PM, which felt unusually restrictive, and even once available the choice was very limited, with no spirits, no sparkling wine, no Champagne, and no red wine.

What to know before you go:
- Located air side after security next to gate G2 in Sydney Airport Terminal 2
- Open from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday to Friday, open from 5:30 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturdays, open from 7:30 AM to 7:00 PM on Sundays
- Accessible with Priority Pass
- Up to two children under 12 can enter free with each Priority Pass visit
- Wi-Fi was slow during our visit
Final verdict:
If all that matters is getting away from the terminal crowds, the REX Lounge Sydney Terminal 2 can work as a quiet place to sit for a while. Beyond that, there is very little reason to go out of the way to visit. The rude check-in experience, poor food, limited drinks, dated seating, and weak Wi-Fi make it one of the least impressive lounges at Sydney Airport.

2. Plaza Premium Lounge Sydney Terminal 1, 5 out of 10
The Plaza Premium Lounge Sydney Terminal 1 ranks second, but it is a mixed experience rather than a genuinely strong lounge. The best parts are the solid hot food selection, very good barista made coffee, and the excellent runway and tarmac views through the large windows. The main issue is that the lounge is simply too small and too busy to feel relaxing.
Best for:
- Barista made coffee
- Runway and tarmac views
- A quick hot meal before an international flight

Food and drinks:
For such a small lounge, the food offering is actually pretty decent. Hot options included Malaysian chicken curry, creamy pumpkin pasta, buffalo chicken wings, spring rolls, prawn crackers, and bread rolls, alongside cold salads, cheese and crackers, and a small charcuterie selection. There was no fresh fruit, but overall the food was comfortably good enough for a pre-flight meal.
Coffee is one of the biggest positives here. Being able to order from a barista is a real step up from the usual self serve machine experience found in many contract lounges.
The drinks selection is more frustrating. Wine is included and there is one complimentary beer on tap, but spirits and some fairly ordinary beers cost extra, which makes the lounge feel a bit cheap for an international airport setting.

What to know before you go:
- Located air side in Sydney Airport Terminal 1 opposite gate 25
- Open daily from 6AM to 10PM
- Maximum stay is two hours
- Children under two enter free
- Accessible with lounge membership or paid entry
- No showers available
Final verdict:
Plaza Premium Lounge Sydney Terminal 1 gets some important things right. The food is good, the coffee is excellent, and the runway views are a real plus. The problem is that the lounge feels cramped very quickly, and the poor atmosphere created by queues, crowding, messy tables, and extra drink charges stops it from being one of the best lounges at Sydney Airport.
1. The House Sydney Terminal 1, 8.5 out of 10
The House Sydney Terminal 1 ranks first and is the best lounge at Sydney Airport from the lounges reviewed so far. It delivers the strongest all round experience, with a spacious layout, wonderful plane views, a good food selection, a proper tended bar, included cocktails, fast Wi-Fi, and clean shower facilities.
Best for:
- The best all round contract lounge at Sydney Airport
- Cocktails and a strong bar offering
- A spacious and more premium international lounge experience

Food and drinks:
Food is comfortably good enough for a filling meal before your flight. Options included flat breads with mezze, lasagne, Cajun chicken, herb couscous, salads, apples, cakes, and house made cookies. The variety is strong and gives the lounge a more rounded feel than many contract lounges.
The drinks offering is another major reason The House ranks first. There is a tended bar with beer, wine, sparkling wine, and spirits, and cocktails are included on request. That immediately makes it feel more premium than most pay to use lounges. The Aperol Spritz was a genuine highlight of the visit.
Coffee is a strong point too, with both a barista station and a self-serve machine available.

- Open daily from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- Access permitted up to three hours before departure
