The House Sydney Terminal 1 Date of Visit: March 2026 (Last updated May 2026)
Time: Afternoon visit (2PM to 4PM)

The House Sydney Terminal 1 is a very solid international lounge and a noticeable step above the more basic contract lounge standard. The standout features are the spacious layout, the floor-to-ceiling windows providing excellent plane views, and the well-stocked bar with cocktails included. Food is varied, the Wi-Fi is speedy, and the overall experience feels polished from the moment you arrive. Overall, this is a very enjoyable pre-flight space and one of the better contract international lounges at Sydney Airport.

Check-in Experience at The House Sydney Terminal 1

Check-in was a strong start to the experience.

The receptionist was professional, friendly, and welcoming. We had a little chat, joking about how poor the weather was going to be in London, which was our final destination some 24 hours later!

Ambiance and Seating

This is a spacious lounge and, during our visit, it did not feel too busy.

There is a good mix of lounge seating and café-style seating throughout, so it works well whether you want to relax with a drink, have something to eat, or sit with a coffee before your flight. The floor-to-ceiling windows are another major positive. They bring in plenty of natural light and offer excellent views of the planes outside.

One especially thoughtful touch is the playroom, which is set away from the main lounge area and has noise-cancellation. That makes it family friendly without disturbing the experience for other guests without kids!

Food and drinks at The House Sydney Terminal 1

The food offering is varied and comfortably good enough for a filling meal before your flight.

Options included flat breads with a mezze selection, lasagne, herb couscous, Cajun chicken, three salads, fresh apples, cakes, and house-made cookies. There was enough variety to make the offering feel well rounded, with a decent mix of hot dishes, lighter options, and sweet treats.

Coffee is another strong point here. There is a barista station where you can have coffee made for you, which is always a nice upgrade from the usual button press machines found in many lounges. There is also a self-serve coffee machine if you prefer.

The drinks offering is very solid as well. The bar is well stocked with a bar tender serving guests. Spirits included Captain Morgan’s, Smirnoff, Malibu, and Aperol. Beer options included James Boag’s and Stella Artois, while wines included white, rosé, red, and sparkling wine from Morgan Bay.

There was sometimes a queue for drinks as only one staff member was working behind the bar, but to be fair they remained efficient, professional, and friendly throughout.

Cocktails were available on request, and they were very happy to make them for guests. I had an Aperol Spritz, which was delicious and one of the highlights of the visit.

There was also a fun self-serve water and soft drinks machine that displayed little facts such as the exact amount poured in millilitres and the calories, which added a slightly quirky touch.

Overall, the food and drinks offering here is strong for a contract lounge.

Wi-Fi and Amenities

Wi-Fi was easy to connect to and worked well during the visit. The toilets and showers were both clean and well maintained. The playroom is also worth mentioning again here as a very useful amenity for families, especially because it has been designed in a way that does not interfere with the wider lounge atmosphere. Overall, the amenities are strong and help round out what is already a very comfortable lounge experience.

Final Verdict: Is The House Sydney Terminal 1 Worth Visiting?

The House Sydney Terminal 1 is a very solid international lounge and one that gets a lot of things right. The spacious layout, strong drinks offering, included cocktails, good food selection, and excellent floor-to-ceiling views all make it a very pleasant place to spend time before a flight.

There are a few small limitations, such as occasional queues at the bar and a food selection that is good rather than exceptional, but overall this is still a strong lounge and one I would happily visit again before an international flight.
