Plaza Premium Lounge Hong Kong Gate 35 is a solid option at Hong Kong International Airport, especially if you want tasty hot food and a comfortable place to sit before your flight. The highlight here is easily the food, with a delicious made-to-order fish ball noodle soup station alongside a self-serve buffet and a fully tended bar. This lounge is not perfect though, as it can feel busy and a little cramped in parts, while the Wi-Fi was slow and charging ports were limited.
There are three Plaza Premium lounges at Hong Kong Airport, so you really are spoilt for choice here. Hong Kong is one of my favourite airports to transit through because it is always clean, organised, and smooth, and it is a great layover airport if you have lounge access. Plaza Premium Lounge Hong Kong Gate 35 is located air side near gate 35 on level 6, close to the American Express Centurion Lounge.
The lounge is open daily from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM, and the maximum stay is limited to two hours.

Check-in Experience
There was a short line of around four groups in front of us when we arrived, but the queue moved quickly and the whole check-in process was smooth.
Staff were really friendly, welcoming, and efficient, which made a good first impression before entering the lounge.
Ambiance and Seating
This lounge is split into two main sections. There is a more open seating area with armchairs, some cafe style tables, and a workstation, plus a more enclosed cafe and restaurant style section where the buffet and bar are located.
The open section is the more attractive part of the lounge. It has sleek modern lighting, a few plants dotted around, and a calm feel helped by light jazz music playing in the background. There are also some runway views from here, although they are not amazing because the lounge is a little more central within the terminal and not directly next to the main floor-to-ceiling-windows.
There is a decent mix of seating styles overall, so it works reasonably well whether you want to eat, relax, or get a bit of work done.
The downside is that the lounge was pretty busy during my visit. The cafe and restaurant area in particular felt a little crowded and cramped, partly because of the lower ceilings and partly because there were lots of passengers with bags around the tables. That section definitely feels less premium than the more open seating area.
Food and drinks at Plaza Premium Lounge Hong Kong Gate 35
The food is the real highlight of this lounge and easily the strongest part of the experience.
There was a good self serve buffet with hot and cold options including vegetable spring rolls, noodles, tomato pasta, steamed vegetables, salad items, fresh fruit, and minestrone soup. The buffet itself was solid, with enough choice for a proper meal rather than just a snack.
My favourite food here though was the fresh fish ball noodle soup, which was made right in front of you and was genuinely delicious. There was a queue for it, and after trying it I could completely understand why. It tasted fresh, comforting, and much better than standard lounge food.
You could also customise the soup with spring onions, soy sauce, and fresh chillies, which I would definitely recommend.
Drinks were also pretty decent. There is a fully tended bar serving a couple of red and white wine options, a reasonable spirit selection, and Carlsberg on tap. There was no Champagne, which is a slight disappointment, but staff were happy to make cocktails using the spirits available.
Overall, the food and drink offering here is strong for a contract lounge and gives this lounge a lot of its appeal.
Wi-Fi and Amenities
The Wi-Fi was a disappointment on this visit. It was slow and did not really work properly, which is frustrating at a major transit airport like Hong Kong.
Charging was another weak point. There were charging ports available next to the armchairs in the open seating area, but there was a lack of charging points in the cafe style seating section. That is a shame because most of the seats are in that part of the lounge.
Toilets were clean and sleek. I did love the premium hand wash as well, and overall the toilets felt pretty luxurious.
Showers and private cabins are available here, but both come at an extra charge, so they are not included as standard lounge amenities.

• Lounge felt busy and a little crowded, especially in the lower ceiling cafe and restaurant section.
• Wi-Fi was slow and did not work properly.
• Lack of charging ports in the cafe style seating area.
• Showers and cabins cost extra.
• No Champagne.
Final Verdict: Is Plaza Premium Lounge Hong Kong Gate 35 Worth Visiting?
Plaza Premium Lounge Hong Kong Gate 35 is a pretty solid lounge overall, and the food is what makes it worth visiting. The fresh fish ball noodle soup was excellent, the buffet was better than average, and the fully tended bar adds to the appeal.
Staff were friendly and the more open seating area has a calm, modern feel, helped by the lighting, plants, and soft jazz in the background. That said, the lounge does have a few weaknesses. It felt quite busy during my visit, the lower ceiling restaurant section was a little cramped, the Wi-Fi did not work well, and charging points were not available where they were needed most.
So while this is not one of the very best Plaza Premium lounges I have visited, it is still a good option for a Hong Kong transit if you want hot food and a drink in a pleasant enough setting.
