Our British Airways Club Europe review from Heathrow to Geneva is a perfect example of what European short-haul business class is really like in 2026. The onboard seat is essentially the same as economy in terms of legroom, but the ground experience is smoother, the drinks service feels genuinely premium, and the baggage allowance is far more generous. On this LHR to GVA flight we tested the full Club Europe journey from priority check-in to champagne onboard, and here is exactly what you get and whether the upgrade is worth it.

Booking and Value
On this route the economy fare was £187 return, while Club Europe was £382 return, which is close to double. That works out at roughly a £90 upgrade each way.
The value in Club Europe is not the physical seat, it is what you get around it. You get priority check-in, fast track security in many airports, access to British Airways or Oneworld lounges, priority boarding, a meal service, and a much bigger baggage allowance. If you will use those benefits and do not have Oneworld Sapphire status/BA Silver or above which grants you these perks, then the upgrade can make sense.

Baggage Allowance
A major benefit of Club Europe is the luggage allowance. You get 2x32kg checked baggage allowance, compared with the typical 1x23kg you will see on many BA economy fares. If you are travelling with heavy luggage, multiple bags, or you simply value the flexibility, this is a meaningful upgrade and can justify the extra £90 each way on its own.
Heathrow Terminal 5 Priority Check In, Fast Track and Lounge Access
The Club Europe experience starts well at Heathrow Terminal 5. We used priority check-in, then fast track security, which can be a big time saver when Terminal 5 is busy.
Club Europe passengers also get access to British Airways business class lounges. We used the British Airways Galleries North Lounge, which is one of the strongest perks of buying Club Europe on a short route like this.

British Airways Heathrow Terminal 5 Galleries North Lounge Summary
The British Airways Galleries North Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5 is a solid lounge with standout runway views and loads of natural light, but it can get very busy during the morning rush. The self serve breakfast and drinks offering is reliably strong, though the space feels a little worn in places and Champagne is not on display. It still adds real value before a Club Europe flight, especially if you arrive early and grab a seat by the windows.

Boarding and Punctuality on our British Airways Club Europe Review
Club Europe passengers boarded in Group 1, which meant a smooth boarding process with plenty of overhead locker space. Priority boarding is not glamorous, but on short haul flights it is one of those small details that makes the whole journey feel less stressful.
However, this flight suffered a serious delay of around two and a half hours after missing its slot, and we spent a long time waiting at the gate. It was frustrating, but it is important to say the staff were polite and professional throughout and clearly did their best to keep passengers comfortable. They came around with water and pretzels and handled the situation in a calm, organised way, which helped take the edge off what was otherwise a very annoying delay.

Cabin and Seat Comfort British Airways Club Europe A320
We were seated in 3D and 3F. The key thing to understand about British Airways Club Europe on the Airbus A320 is that the seat pitch and width are basically the same as economy. On this aircraft you are looking at around 30 inches of seat pitch and 17 inches of width. The main difference is that British Airways blocks the middle seat, which gives you more shoulder room, more personal space, and a calmer feel overall.
The BA Airbus A320 has 28 rows, but the number of rows allocated to Club Europe varies by flight. British Airways uses a movable curtain divider, so the business class cabin expands or shrinks depending on demand. This means the experience can feel slightly different depending on how many Club Europe tickets are sold.

Drinks Service and Bar Selection during our British Airways Club Europe Review
After takeoff, the crew came around with the first drinks service along with rosemary nuts. I opted for the Nicolas Feuillatte champagne.
British Airways also gets points for presentation. Even on a short haul flight, you are served in proper glassware, which feels much more premium than plastic cups and helps Club Europe feel like a genuine step up from economy.
The bar selection was extensive for a short flight, with several BrewDog options including the BA BrewDog, San Miguel, and a couple of red and white wine options, alongside the usual spirits and soft drinks.
One small disappointment was that there was no printed food menu provided, which would have been a nice touch and helps set expectations around the meal.
Food during our British Airways Club Europe Review
After the first drinks round, lunch was served. Hot rolls came around first, followed by a choice of salmon or burrata salad, and a passion fruit panna cotta dessert.
The salad was very much a light lunch and slightly uninspiring as the main course. If you board hungry, it is worth eating in the lounge first. The dessert, however, was the standout. It looked vibrant, tasted great, and was an excellent finish for a short haul meal service.

Arrival
We landed around two hours late, which is a significant delay for a flight that is under two hours in the air. The onboard service was good, but the punctuality really let the overall experience down.

Final Verdict: Is British Airways Club Europe Worth It?
For roughly £90 extra each way, Club Europe can be worth it if you value the full package.
This product is essentially buying the ground services plus a light meal and an upgraded drinks service. Priority check-in, fast track security, lounge access, priority boarding, and the generous baggage allowance are the real reasons to do it. The blocked middle seat is a nice bonus, but it is not a bigger seat.
If you already have lounge access through Priority Pass, I probably would not bother paying extra. And if you are BA Silver or Gold, or oneworld Sapphire or Emerald, you already receive many of these business class style perks including lounge access, so paying extra for Club Europe is usually poor value.
During out British Airways Club Europe review from Heathrow to Geneva, BA delivered a strong short-haul business class experience in the areas that matter most on a quick European route: a smoother airport journey, priority boarding, a very good drinks service, and a light meal. The seat is effectively the same as economy beyond the blocked middle, and the long delay hurt the overall score, but the crew were polite and did their best throughout. If you will use the lounge and priority services, Club Europe can be worth the upgrade on this route.
