London Hotel Options
If you are flying early, arriving late, or connecting through Heathrow, staying nearby keeps things simple. If you are heading into the city, Central London is best for sightseeing. See below for excellent hotel deals on Booking.com, filtered based on our top picks.
Booking Value
British Airways Club World Suite is not cheap, with the lowest return fare on this London to Mexico City route pricing at around £3,900. However, the only other direct competitor, AeroMexico, was around £5,400 return, making British Airways the better value direct option.
The newer Club World Suite also makes the fare easier to justify with its 1-2-1 layout, which provides direct aisle access for all passengers. Compared with British Airways’ old 2-4-2 business class layout, it feels far more private, modern, and competitive. When BA prices are broadly in line with Virgin Atlantic, Delta, or American Airlines, Club World Suite can represent decent value.

Check-In, Fast Track Security and the Lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 5
Check-in and Fast Track security at Heathrow Terminal 5 were a breeze on this Saturday afternoon, making for a very smooth start to the journey.
With this business class ticket, lounge access was included at the British Airways Galleries North Lounge, one of British Airways’ main Club lounges in Terminal 5. Based on our earlier visit, it is a bright and spacious lounge with huge floor to ceiling windows overlooking the northern runway, plenty of natural light, and a good range of seating options including workstations, high stools, café style seating, and armchairs. The breakfast offering was solid, the drinks selection was strong, and Wi-Fi worked well, although the lounge can feel busy at peak times and some areas look a little worn. Overall, it is a very worthwhile pre-flight stop, especially for the runway views and bright open feel.

Boarding at London Heathrow Terminal 5 and Pre-Departure Drinks
Boarding was smooth and efficient, with Club World passengers invited in boarding group 2. Once onboard, pre-departure drinks of Champagne, orange juice, or water were offered and served in glassware, which was a very nice start to the flight.
Menus were handed out before departure, which always adds a more premium feel, and the aircraft departed on time before later arriving into Mexico City on time as well.
I was seated in 24K, which gave me some lovely views of London and southern England after departure from Heathrow.

Seat Comfort and the Club World Suite Experience on the British Airways 787-9
The Club World Suite on the British Airways Boeing 787-9 is a big step forward. The reverse herringbone 1-2-1 layout is far better than the old Club World seat, especially because every passenger now gets direct aisle access.
The suite feels private and well thought through, and the addition of the door makes a noticeable difference to the overall experience. It feels much more exclusive and far better suited to long haul flying than British Airways’ previous business class seat.
The seat also includes 2 USB A ports and 1 universal 110V AC power outlet, which is helpful if you want to keep several devices charged during the flight.
The bed was comfortable enough for a few hours of sleep, and overall this is now a competitive business class hard product. Fair play to BA here!

Amenity Kit, Bedding and Onboard Comfort
Amenities were waiting at the seat on boarding, which is always a nice touch. These included noise cancelling headphones and a White Company amenity kit in a very attractive bag.
Inside were a dental kit, lip balm, moisturiser, eye mask, earplugs, socks, and other useful essentials. There was also a blanket provided for the flight.
This felt like a polished and premium setup overall, although British Airways did not provide slippers or pyjamas on this route, which does leave it slightly behind some competition, such as Qatar Airways, in this department.

British Airways Club World Suite Food and Drink
Cabin crew were very professional throughout, and the food service started pretty quickly after takeoff with a round of pre-dinner drinks. We ordered more champagne at this stage, to treat ourselves during the review!
Staff took orders promptly, and the first meal service was well paced and nicely presented. I started with the roast beef salad, served with watercress, rocket, and tartare sauce. For the main course, I had the rack of lamb, which was tasty, although a little cold. Dessert was a seasonal chocolate mousse with mini eggs, which was a fun touch given that it was the week before Easter.
There was then another round of drinks, with tea, coffee, or further alcoholic drinks available on request.
British Airways is usually strong on drinks, and that certainly held true here! The bar selection included a respectable range of wines, spirits, juices, and soft drinks. Everything was served on proper plates, and the courses were separated, which made the service feel more premium and closer to a restaurant style experience. The metal cutlery and white cloth laid over the large tray table added to that impression and helped make this a very solid meal service overall.
The second meal was served around 2 hours before landing. I chose the Caribbean chicken salad, which was tasty. I was still quite full by that point so skipped the main course, but I did have another chocolate pudding for dessert. There will always be room for a little dessert!
Overall, this was a really strong catering performance from British Airways.

In-Flight Entertainment and Power
The British Airways Club World Suite on the Boeing 787-9 features an 18.5 inch HD entertainment screen. It was very responsive and had a good selection of films and entertainment to choose from, which made it easy to settle in for such a long flight.
The main downside is that the screen position cannot be adjusted, but this was only a minor issue in practice.
Between the responsive entertainment system, the good power setup, and the comfortable flat bed, the cabin worked well for both relaxing and sleeping.
British Airways Club World Suite Cleanliness and Facilities
The toilets were clean and well maintained throughout the flight, which helped reinforce the polished feel of the cabin.
British Airways may not offer some of the extra touches seen on Middle Eastern carriers such as a bar or onboard lounge, but the onboard environment felt tidy, calm, and professionally run from start to finish.
Cabin Crew Service
Cabin crew were very professional throughout the journey. Orders were taken promptly, meal services were delivered efficiently, and the staff were always polite.
Final Verdict: Is the British Airways Club World Suite Worth It?
This was a really solid long haul business class flight and a very big improvement over British Airways’ old Club World product. The new Club World Suite is far more private, much more comfortable, and far better suited to modern long haul travel than the old 2-4-2 layout.
The food and drink were strong, the cabin crew were professional, and both departure and arrival were on time. The seat itself is now very competitive, especially with direct aisle access for every passenger and the added privacy door.
The only things holding the overall score back slightly are the lack of slippers and pyjamas, plus the absence of any onboard bar or social space where you can stretch your legs in the way that airlines such as Virgin Atlantic, Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Etihad sometimes offer.
Still, this is a very competitive business class product now, and one I would happily fly the Club Suite again.
