American Airlines Flagship Lounge Chicago Date of Visit: November 2025 (Last Updated February 2026)
Time: Evening visit from 6:00PM to 8:30PM
American Airlines Flagship Lounge Chicago at O’Hare (ORD) is American’s premium international lounge in Terminal 3, and it is a big step up from the Admirals Club. I visited in November 2025 during an evening departure to test the seating and runway views, the huge hot and cold buffet, the self serve bar with Piper Heidsieck champagne, the Bloody Mary station, the showers, and whether it is worth qualifying for access or paying $150.
Location and Access to American Airlines Flagship Lounge Chicago
The American Airlines Flagship Lounge Chicago is located airside in Terminal 3 between Concourses H and K. You will find it beneath the main Admirals Club on the second floor. At approximately 17000 square feet, this is a huge space and far larger than most lounges.

Access is available to Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members flying in any ticket class, provided they are travelling on a long-haul Oneworld flight that day. Business class and first class passengers can also enter as long as they are not travelling on a domestic itinerary with the exception of the Chicago to Honolulu route. Access can also be purchased for $150 USD or 15,000 American Airlines miles. The Flagship Lounge is a clear step up from the Admirals Club lounges, which typically serve domestic premium passengers. This is American Airlines’s premium ground product for international travellers.

Check-In Experience
Entry was quick, simple and polite. Despite the lounge being busy when I arrived, the reception process was efficient and friendly.
Seating, Views, and Atmosphere
The first impression is how large and open the lounge feels. Even though it was quite busy during my evening visit, the sheer scale of the space meant that crowds were absorbed easily. There were plenty of comfortable armchairs, high stool seating, dedicated workstations and an abundance of charging ports which were consistently functional. Floor to ceiling windows provided excellent tarmac views with natural light pouring through, and soft ambient lamps added a relaxing warmth to the atmosphere.
One especially thoughtful touch was the presence of recliner day bed style chairs. They were unfortunately all occupied during my visit, but it was still impressive to see them provided at all. This level of comfort is rarely found in domestic lounges in the United States and really highlights the difference between the Admirals Club and the Flagship lounge product.

Food and Drinks at the American Airlines Flagship Lounge Chicago
This is where the American Airlines Flagship Lounge Chicago truly excels. The buffet selection is extensive with a wide range of both hot and cold dishes. It is easily one of the strongest food offerings I have experienced at an American Airlines lounge.
The self serve bar is exceptional and far more extensive than the Admirals Club, where bars are typically staffed and more limited. Champagne was available during my visit, specifically Piper Heidsieck, which was an impressive touch and elevated the whole experience. A fully stocked range of spirits, wines, beers and soft drinks were on offer and all were self pour.
One of the most memorable additions was a dedicated Bloody Mary station. There were step by step instructions, mixers, garnishes and everything needed to create your own drink. It added a fun and interactive twist to the typical lounge drinks experience!

Wi Fi and Amenities
The Wi Fi was stable and fast throughout my stay. Restrooms were clean and well kept. Complimentary showers were available and could be booked directly at reception which was a fantastic amenity for long haul travellers. Power ports were numerous and all the ones I tried worked without issue.

Final verdict: Is American Airlines Flagship Lounge Chicago worth visiting?
The American Airlines Flagship Lounge Chicago is a genuinely impressive international lounge. The scale of the space, the quality of the food and drink selection and the premium touches throughout place it far above the standard Admirals Club experience. Other than the natural busyness of the lounge, everything else delivered a very solid and enjoyable stay. If you are flying long haul from O’Hare, this lounge is absolutely worth arriving early for.
