Check-In Experience
Check-in was simple and welcoming.
A member of staff called Raidie greeted us with a warm smile and checked us in quickly after scanning our Priority Pass cards and boarding passes.
He then explained that there was a self-service buffet available, pointed out the complimentary shower facilities and directed us towards the Wi-Fi password.
It was an efficient and friendly start to the visit.
Seating and Atmosphere
Our first impression of the Travel Club Lounge Kota Kinabalu Domestic Terminal was that it was relatively small.
However, the lounge was almost completely empty during our 6PM to 8PM visit, which created a very calm and peaceful atmosphere. The lounge has floor-to-ceiling windows, although unfortunately these overlook the departures area rather than the outside of the terminal.
Despite this, the lounge felt bright enough and, most importantly, it was absolutely spotless. The floors were extremely shiny and the overall space looked very clean and well maintained.
It was clear that the staff took pride in keeping the lounge tidy.
Seating consisted mainly of:
- Comfortable leather armchairs
- Bar stools around the bar area
There was no dedicated workstation area. However, the lounge was quiet enough that working from one of the armchairs or bar seats would still have been perfectly manageable.
Views and Natural Light
The Travel Club Lounge Kota Kinabalu Domestic Terminal has floor-to-ceiling windows, but these overlook the interior departures area. Unfortunately, this means there are no runway or apron views and virtually no natural light.
However, the quiet atmosphere and spotless interior help compensate for the lack of an outside view.

Food at the Travel Club Lounge Kota Kinabalu Domestic Terminal
The food selection was surprisingly solid for a domestic lounge. Everything was presented in a self-service format.
The hot food selection included:
- Ayam Percik
- Steamed fish with ginger soy
- Fried noodles
- Tofu with mushrooms
- Stir-fried green beans
- Stir-fried cabbage
There was also a hot bread and butter pudding available for dessert.
Interestingly, the bread and butter pudding was positioned alongside the tofu, which was a slightly strange combination of sweet and savoury dishes.
Anyway, the cold buffet included:
- Small salad bar
- Fresh pineapple
- Honey melon
- Watermelon
The fried noodles were slightly bland during our visit.
However, everything else we tried was tasty.
For a domestic contract lounge, the overall food selection was more substantial than we expected and easily sufficient for a proper pre-flight meal.
Drinks
The drinks selection was considerably weaker than the food. In fact, thehe only alcoholic drinks available were beer!
Options included:
- Tiger Beer
- Heineken
The beer was served from the bar by one of the friendly staff members.
Unfortunately, there was no wine, Prosecco, spirits or other alcoholic options available.
Self-service non-alcoholic drinks included:
- Soft drinks
- Apple juice
- Cold water
The standout feature was the large barista-style coffee machine positioned at the bar.
A member of staff was happy to prepare fresh coffees for guests, which was a nice touch and considerably better than relying solely on a basic self-service coffee machine.
Overall, the non-alcoholic drinks selection was perfectly adequate, but the lack of wine and spirits limits the overall offering.
Showers, Wi-Fi and Facilities
The Travel Club Lounge Kota Kinabalu Domestic Terminal offers several useful facilities.
Complimentary Wi-Fi was easy to connect to and was impressively fast throughout our visit.
Charging facilities were another major strength.
There were plenty of charging ports available:
- Next to the leather armchairs
- Around the bar seating area
This made it easy to recharge phones, laptops and other devices before a flight.
The lounge also has a dedicated prayer room.
However, the standout facility was the complimentary shower. Raidie came over and provided us with a fresh towel and shower mat when we asked to use it.
There was no shower gel or shampoo provided during our visit, so passengers planning to use the shower may want to bring their own toiletries. The shower itself was spotless. Water pressure was strong and the water was sufficiently hot.
Toilets
Toilets are available inside the Travel Club Lounge Kota Kinabalu Domestic Terminal and they were extremely clean during our visit.
As with the rest of the lounge, the floors were shiny and the facilities looked well maintained.
Staff and Service
The staff were one of the highlights of the Travel Club Lounge Kota Kinabalu Domestic Terminal.
In particular, Raidie was extremely welcoming from the moment we arrived. He checked us in quickly, explained the lounge facilities and helped us with the shower by providing a fresh towel and shower mat.
During our stay, he also came over to check how we were and whether we needed anything. This level of proactive service made the visit feel considerably more personal than many contract lounges.
The rest of the staff were also smiley and friendly, while the spotless condition of the lounge showed that the team were doing an excellent job behind the scenes.
