Vienna Lounge Vienna Airport Terminal 1 is a large contract lounge used by multiple airlines, and it is also accessible with lounge memberships such as Priority Pass. I visited during an afternoon stay and was impressed by the huge seating areas, terrace views for plane spotting, and one of the best Austrian buffet spreads I have seen in an airport lounge. Seating, terrace and best places to sit
The Vienna Lounge Vienna Airport is huge at over 2500 square metres in space. It is thoughtfully designed, featuring a perfect blend of contemporary style with Austrian influences. The enormous floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows provided plentiful natural light. The space is thoughtfully divided into multiple zones, thereby offering something for every type of traveller. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful retreat in the quiet area, a social setting in the dining zone, or a place to fully relax on the day beds, this lounge truly has it all. Additionally, the layout makes it easy to find your ideal spot, no matter your mood or travel needs.
One particularly impressive feature is the large terrace, which not only provides an amazing area for plane spotting but also lets you enjoy a drink in a unique open-air setting. Also, the seating is incredibly comfortable, with plenty of options ranging from plush armchairs to cozy day beds. As a result, the lounge manages to balance relaxation and luxury exceptionally well. There’s even a dedicated kids zone, which makes it a fantastic choice for families. Furthermore, during my visit, the lounge wasn’t too busy, allowing it to serve as a quiet space to unwind before your flight. To be honest, I think it would be difficult for this lounge to ever feel overcrowded, as the sheer size can easily absorb a large number of people.

Food and Drink at Vienna Lounge Vienna Airport
The food and beverage selection here is top tier and one of the best I have experienced in a contract airport lounge. The lounge offers a fantastic variety of Austrian and international dishes.
- Hot Dishes: The absolute standout was the beef goulash, which was hands-down the best I’ve ever had. In fact, I didn’t think I could get that excited over a goulash, but here we are! The beef was incredibly tender, melting in the mouth, and the sauce was rich, deep, and packed with flavour. Other options included Wiener schnitzel, creamy mushroom pasta, and a chicken curry, all of which were tasty.
- Cold Selection: There was a wide variety of fresh salads, sandwiches, and high-quality Austrian charcuterie on offer. Moreover, the local cheese selection was particularly noteworthy, and it paired beautifully with the red wines available.
- Desserts: Traditional Austrian treats such as sachertorte and apple strudel were available, providing a sweet finish to the meal. Furthermore, there were all sorts of cakes, so many in fact that it felt like I was at a bakery!
- Drinks: The lounge offers an extensive selection of premium spirits and Austrian wines, complete with a menu detailing each option. The variety and quality were impressive, making it easy to find the perfect pairing for any dish. My pre-takeoff tipple test was Zipfer Urtyp lager, which scored very highly.
- Tea Selection: One of the most remarkable aspects of the lounge was the dedicated tea station, featuring over 10 varieties of high-quality teas, each with a detailed description of its origins and flavours. Tea lovers will be in heaven here!

WiFi, showers and amenities
At the Vienna Lounge Vienna Airport, the Wi-Fi was exceptionally fast and reliable, making it easy to stream, browse, or get work done. Power outlets and USB charging stations were conveniently located throughout the lounge. The restrooms were pristine and stocked with toiletries, and showers were available upon request I believe. There was a nice bunch of flowers next to the sink for an added luxury feel. There was also a selection of digital newspapers and magazines for those preferring to read hard copies.

Final Verdict: Is the Vienna Lounge Vienna Airport Worth Visiting?
The Vienna Lounge in Terminal 1 is an absolute gem and one of the best airport lounges I’ve experienced. This is one of the best contract lounges I have visited in Europe, and it genuinely feels closer to a high end business class lounge. Not only does it offer a massive, stylish space, but it also combines top-quality food and drinks with unique features like the tea station and outdoor terrace. Furthermore, the service and ambiance contribute to an overall premium experience. As a result, it’s a fantastic place to relax before a flight.
