The Plaza Premium Lounge, London Heathrow Terminal 4 (LHR)

Review: Plaza Premium Lounge, Terminal 4 LHR (Evening Visit)

Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 4 Date of Visit: February 2025
Time: Evening (7:00 PM – 9:00 PM)

Location and Access Options

The Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 4 is conveniently located to the right of security, opposite gate 10a. Access can be obtained through Priority Pass, Dragonpass, or by paying for entry, which costs £43 if you pre-book online (a 10% discount from the walk-in rate). The lounge is open 5AM – 10PM daily.

Check-In Experience

The check-in was exceptionally chaotic on our Thursday evening visit. When we arrived, we were told that we would have to enter a virtual queue (similar to the system for the Escape Lounge at London Stansted). We waited 45 minutes next to the WHS Smith before the app notified that it was our turn to enter. When we returned, there were crowds of people trying to download the ‘Dojo’ app around the reception area, which we had to weave our way past. Not exactly the smoothest start to the lounge experience!

Ambiance and Seating at Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 4

The lounge itself is spacious, with plenty of seating options, and ultimately did a pretty good job in absorbing the vast numbers of people. The seats are comfortable enough and they were well spaced out, meaning you didn’t feel on top of one another.  The design is minimalistic, and the area had lots of plants dotted around, giving the lounge a natural feel. There are large windows that provide a decent view of the tarmac from the southern tip of the airfield at Heathrow.

Food and Drink Options at Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 4

The food offerings were somewhat underwhelming, especially for the £43 entry price.
Hot items: There was a basic selection of lukewarm food – pasta that was okay and a bland vegetable curry dish. There was enough food to fill you up, but like most contract lounges in the UK, the food felt more like a school dinner than a restaurant meal.
Cold items: A selection of sandwiches, cheese and crackers, and the usual salad items were laid out. For those with a sweet tooth, there were cakes and these mini trifle pots which were both tasty.
Drinks: The selection of drinks was actually pretty reasonable, and they were all self-serve which is always nice and is certainly a rarity in the UK. There was a good selection of the basic spirits available (e.g. Gordon’s gin, Jack Daniel’s Whiskey etc). However, what I did find odd was that Aperol was available, yet no Prosecco was available to make an Aperol Spritz, so I’m not sure what you’d mix this with. There was a pour your own Angelo Poretti beer tap with some cool half pint Angelo Poretti glasses which was an excellent addition to the drink offerings. Apologies for the TERRIBLE pour from me – no excuse for that shambles! There was also two choices of red and white wines, as well as one rose option.

Wi-Fi & Amenities

The Wi-Fi was available and performed reasonably well, which was a definite advantage. Power outlets were plentiful throughout the lounge and functioned reliably. The amenities were decent, including showers that could be booked at reception and a clean restroom area. Additionally, the lounge featured a quiet zone and a prayer room for added convenience.

Pros:
• Decent Wi-Fi connection and an abundance of working power outlets.
• A reasonable self-serve bar selection, including a pour your own pint tap.

Cons:
• Uninspiring food selection, with lots of bland, batch-cooked offerings.
• Exceptionally busy, with a chaotic queue system and no option to pre-book the lounge which many other UK Priority Pass lounges have.

Final Thoughts

The Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 4 is a perfectly adequate place to relax, but it is nothing special, which is very much in line with many UK Priority Pass lounges. While the Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 4 offers decent seating and amenities, the lackluster food and busy entry process hold it back somewhat.. Overall, if you have lounge passes or have run out and are charged the standard £24 fee, then this is a perfectly acceptable space to spend time in before your flight. However, if you do not have a lounge membership card, then the £43 fee I think would be too hefty to justify.
