Review: The Pearl Lounge, Sharm El Sheikh Terminal 1 (Evening Visit)
Our Pearl Lounge SSH Review covers the lounge’s facilities, food, Wi-Fi, and overall experience during an evening visit.
Date of Visit: [January 2025]
Time: Evening (4:30 PM – 7:00 PM)
Location and Access Options
The lounge is located just past the main security on floor 2 and can only be accessed via an elevator. It accepts Priority Pass, Dragonpass, and walk-in guests for a fee of £25.
Check-In at Pearl Lounge SSH
Upon arrival at 4:30 PM, we were greeted by a receptionist who seemed uninterested by our arrival. She did not mention that there was a wifi code, so 10 minutes later I had to come back to ask for the password. The lady seemed annoyed that I dared ask for the password, sighed to me and said “give, give your phone”. The rudeness of the check in staff here really was a bad start to the lounge visit.
Lounge Ambiance and Seating at Pearl Lounge SSH
The Pearl Lounge itself is a really good spot, as its on the top floor, with huge panoramic floor to ceiling windows. The space looked quite similar to the Pearl Lounge at Marrakesh airport. You can check this review out here. We had an excellent view of the airport tarmac, and as we were here at sunset, it was a really nice environment to chill before our flight back to London. The lounge was practically empty, and the armchair seats were pretty comfy. This quiet atmosphere was certainly a welcome break from the terminal, as Sharm El Sheikh airport was chaotic, cramped and had practically no appealing seating areas. The only thing the main terminal really has is a sad looking Burger King!

Food & Drink at The Pearl Lounge Sharm El Sheikh
The food options were disappointing during our Pearl Lounge SSH Review, with an unappetizing and poorly maintained buffet:
- Hot items: Lukewarm pasta, with vile tasting shredded beef, overcooked and flavourless rice, and probably the driest chicken that I’ve ever eaten. I couldn’t get many photos as I was told to stop videoing by a staff member. Clearly, they were embarrassed about their food offerings!
- Cold items: A sparse selection of limp sandwiches, and pizza slices, both of which were bland.
- Drinks: Similarly to the Marrakesh Pearl Lounge, there is NO alcohol on offer, so getting your money’s worth at this lounge would be even more challenging. Even the soft drinks choices were disappointing, they only had water, Fanta, Coke and Sprite. I asked a staff member is they had any diet drinks, which he explained that what was in the fridges was it. They didn’t even have Diet Coke on offer! You had to order coffee at the ‘bar’ although the attendant spoke no English and was just on his phone.

Wi-Fi and Amenities
The lounge offers Wi-Fi, but as mentioned previously, you need to ask the rude receptionist for the password. To be fair, the Wi-Fi was very quick once connected, and seen as the main terminal had no usable Wi-Fi, the connectivity was a major plus for the Pearl Lounge. This is especially true considering Egyptian data charges were extortionate, so I had turned my data roaming off for my trip to Egypt. Power outlets were sparse and often non-functional, frustrating for those trying to charge their devices. There were no additional amenities, and the restrooms looked like they had seen better days.
Pros:
- Excellent panoramic views of the airport.
- Fast and reliable Wi-Fi.
Cons:
- Rude staff, with one staff member demanding that I stop taking pictures and videos of the food.
- Poor food and drink options, with no alcohol or even diet soft drinks on offer.
Pearl Lounge SSH: Final Verdict
Our Pearl Lounge SSH Review highlights a far from a premium experience and reminded me of the Marrakesh Pearl Lounge. You can check this review out here. For the price, you would expect to at least be able to grab a diet coke. The staff were unhelpful and rude. The only slight positive was the views and the fast WiFi. The fact that a staff member told me to stop videoing the food kind of demonstrates that they themselves know that this is a poor offering. Unless you have unlimited lounge passes, I would absolutely recommend not wasting a lounge pass or waste your hard-earned cash for entry here!
