Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 5 Date of Visit: November 2025 (Last updated February 2026)
Time: Evening (7:00 PM – 9:00 PM)
Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 5 is a contract lounge at London Heathrow T5 with some of the best runway views in the terminal. I visited in November 2025 for an evening departure to assess the seating, crowd levels, buffet, bar, WiFi, power sockets, and whether it is worth paying £47 or using a lounge visit. The views are the standout, but the lounge felt cramped and the complimentary food and drinks were limited during my visit.

Check-In Experience
The receptionist was actually really rude when we tried to check-in. She rolled her eyes at us when we tried to enter the lounge 20 minutes prior to the 3 hour point before our flight and then sent us away. When she did eventually let us in 20 minutes later, she seemed clearly fed up. This was not a great start to the lounge experience. We have also reviewed the Club Aspire Lounge at Heathrow terminal 5, which you read here.
Ambiance and Seating at Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 5
The first thing to say about the lounge is that it feels really cramped and it was packed during my stay. The layout is in a strange thin L shape, with lots of seating crammed in.
In terms of seating, there are large island tables with high bar stools positioned opposite the bar, ideal for those who want to enjoy the views while eating or drinking. The lounge also features armchair-style seating for those who prefer a more relaxed setting.
The Plaza Premium Lounge provides some of the best runway and tarmac views available at Terminal 5 thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows. These views are far better than those from the Club Aspire Lounge.

Food and Drinks at the Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 5
The food selection lacked choice and was pretty basic and bland. Sadly, it did give off school dinner kind of vibes! During my visit, there were cold sandwiches, noodles a curry with rice, some pizza slices left out, a few basic salad items and a hot crumble dessert. The food was filling enough but typical of UK contract lounges where taste and variety are limited.
The drinks selection was a little stronger although much of the drinks on display was only available for an extra charge. I don’t ever understand this, as I may as well not pay to enter the lounge and just buy whatever drink I want in a bar in the main terminal!
The tended bar offered standard spirits, Angelo Poretti beer, and a couple of red and white wines. The Chardonnay that I had was clearly cheap and it didn’t help that it was slightly warm!
Champagne and even sparkling wine/Prosecco was an extra charge unfortunately.

Wi-Fi and Amenities
Wi-Fi speeds were solid for browsing, streaming, and working. Restrooms were clean and well maintained, and power outlets were available throughout the lounge, making it easy to keep devices charged.
Whilst the toilets were clean, the rest of the lounge was not. Almost all tables had stacks of plates and dirty glasses. Most new arrivals would have to move these dirty items before sitting down, which continues theme of poor staffing during my visit.
LoungePass – No membership needed. Pre-book the Plaza Premium Lounge for £47 per person. After clicking, search for the airport to check availability and book your lounge spot.
Pros and cons
Pros:
- Excellent evening views of the runway and apron
- Bright, modern design with a comfortable mix of seating
Cons:
- Food quality was average and lacked variety
- No Champagne or Prosecco available
- The lounge felt small and cramped which was not helped by the sheer number of visitors in the lounge during my stay
Final Verdict: Is The Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 5 Worth Visiting?
The Plaza Premium Lounge Heathrow Terminal 5 felt fairly average overall and a league below the Plaza Premium lounge at terminal 4. You can read the terminal 4 Plaza Premium Lounge review here. The receptionist at the terminal 5 lounge was rude, and the complimentary food/drinks selection was limited. The one thing that really lifted the experience was the runway views. I personally preferred the Club Aspire lounge at terminal 5, which you can read here.
