Northern Lights Executive Lounge Aberdeen Airport is a surprisingly strong regional lounge, combining excellent runway views and natural light with hot food options and a tended bar that feels well above average for a small UK airport. During my mid afternoon visit in December 2025, it was calm, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable for plane spotting, with a better food spread than expected and a drinks list that stands out.

The Northern Lights Executive Lounge at Aberdeen Airport is located airside. Once you have cleared Security, walk through the main departure lounge towards International Gate 1. From there, take the lift up to the first floor, where the lounge is located.

Check-In Experience
Check in was friendly and efficient, with no queue when I arrived. Staff explained the basics clearly, and I was inside within a minute or two. The first impression was excellent, helped by how calm the lounge felt during my mid afternoon visit.

For a small airport lounge, the Northern Lights Executive Lounge makes a strong impression. The best feature is the natural light, with excellent runway views that give the space a bright, open feel. If you enjoy a bit of plane spotting before a flight, this is genuinely a great spot.
Seating is a mix of comfy armchairs and café style tables and chairs. The armchairs are the highlight and make it an easy place to relax with a drink while watching aircraft movements outside.
One odd omission, though, is the lack of proper workstations. Considering Aberdeen is such a business centric destination, I expected at least a few dedicated desks. You can still work from a table if you need to, but it does feel like a missed opportunity.

• Tortilla crisps

The hot options were a real plus, and overall it felt like a solid spread rather than a token snack table.
Drinks were genuinely impressive for a lounge of this size, mainly because there is a tended bar and a strong range of complimentary options.
Complimentary spirits and liqueurs included:

• Gordon’s gin (standard and pink)
• Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
• Bacardi white rum
• Brandy
• Dry Martini
• Grouse whisky
Beer and cider options included:
• Becks Blue
• On draught: Tennent’s, Coors Light, Cold River cider
Wine and mixers included:
• House red wine
• House white wine
• House rosé wine
• Irn Bru
• Diet Irn Bru
• Ginger beer
• Tonic waters
There was also an option to upgrade to premium spirits for just £1 per drink, which is a nice touch if you want something a bit better without paying full airport bar prices.
Overall, the drinks offering felt far above average for a smaller UK airport lounge, and the draught beer selection was a standout.
Wi-Fi and Amenities
The Wi-Fi worked well throughout my visit, and the lounge stayed quiet and relaxing, which made it easy to browse, message, or do a bit of admin before boarding.
Toilets were clean and well maintained, which always makes a big difference in smaller lounges.
The main downside on the amenities side was the lack of charging ports. In a lounge that attracts business travellers, you really want plenty of easy access power points. You can make it work, but it is not as convenient as it should be.

The runway views and natural light make it a genuinely pleasant place to spend time, and the food and drink offering is better than I expected, with hot dishes, a good spread of snacks, and a proper tended bar.
It is not perfect. The lack of workstations and limited charging ports are the two things that stopped this lounge from feeling truly business traveller friendly. But if your main goal is a quiet, comfortable place to sit with good food, a very respectable drinks selection, and a bit of plane spotting, then it is well worth visiting
