Flight Review: China Southern Economy Class Airbus A320 Phuket to Guangzhou (HKT to CAN)

This China Southern A320 review covers my flight from Guangzhou to Phuket in economy class. The 3 hour 40 minute flight was smooth, with good service and an affordable price of £420 for four flights on the roundtrip. Boarding Process & Cabin Atmosphere on China Southern A320

Boarding was once again smooth, efficient, and well-organized. The crew maintained professionalism, ensuring a quick turnaround. The blue China Southern mood lighting was switched on before and after the meal service, which was a nice touch.

Seat Comfort & Cabin Experience: China Southern A320 Review

The flight from Guangzhou to Phuket was on a clean and modern Airbus A320. The cabin crew were exceptionally polite, and both flights in this sector were on time.

Food & Beverage Service in Our China Southern A320 Review

A full meal service was offered, along with the same beverage selection as the long-haul flights. Impressively, drinks were served three times: pre-dinner, during the meal, and post-dinner. This was certainly an unexpected level of service for a relatively short flight. They were far ahead of the traditional carriers in Europe who tend to have food available for purchase only on their short-haul flights these days. However, I must say that the complimentary food was, unfortunately, pretty terrible on this China Southern flight (I’m not a fussy eater at all either). The ham salad for a started was revolting, there was some flavour that I’ve never tasted before, but it made me feel a little sick! The chicken rice main was bland and stodgy, whilst the yoghurt desert did not taste of anything. Oh well, at least they tried, and for such a short flight the complimentary food and drink was better than nothing.

Cleanliness & Facilities

The aircraft was well-maintained, and bathrooms remained clean throughout the flight.

  • Value for Money: 9/10
  • Staff: 8/10
  • Punctuality: 10/10
  • Food and Drink: 3/10 (Good drinks, but the food was nearly inedible)
  • Entertainment: N/A (No seatback entertainment)
  • Seat Comfort: 7/10

The Airport Lounge Bro Flight Rating: 7.4/10

Despite some disappointing food, the China Southern A320 review shows great value for money on this route.
