Review: My Lounge, London Gatwick South Terminal (Morning Visit)
Date of Visit: [November 2024]
Time: Morning (4:00 AM – 5:30 AM)
Location and Access Options
Tucked away from the main departures area in London Gatwick Terminal South is ‘My Lounge’ which is open daily from 4am to 7pm. The lounge is located on the upper level of the departure lounge, with a clearly signed passageway that takes you past the toilets. The lounge can be accessed through the Priority Pass and Dragonpass programs. If you don’t have a membership to these programs, then you can pre-book online for £34 each, which allows for 3 hours admission.
Check-In Experience
Our flight was at a painfully early 6:10am, so we arrived at bang on 4am. We had to wait outside until 4:10am where around 10 of us were waiting, until finally the apologetic and polite receptionist finally opened the doors.
Ambiance & Seating at My Lounge Gatwick South
The first thing to note is that the lounge is much smaller than the No.1 Traveller lounge Gatwick South lounge which is also available to Priority Pass members. The lounge was very peaceful at this time in the morning, and had a relaxed, café-style ambiance with a mix of seating options. There were comfy armchairs, communal tables and even an outdoor seating area (the only outdoor space past security at Gatwick apparently). There was excellently large floor to ceiling windows overlooking the apron (great for plane nerds like myself) although there was not a lot to see as it was still pitch black outside. There was a small kids/games room, although this was not used when we were there.

Food & Drink Options at My Lounge London Gatwick
Breakfast options were reasonable, with a buffet offering:
- Hot items: Scrambled eggs, McMuffin style sausage patties, baked beans, hash browns and pancakes.
- Cold items: Cereals, yogurts, pastries, and fresh fruit. DIY touches: A make-your-own loaded Nachos section with a melted cheese machine was a fun addition for travellers, all be it not well used for breakfast.
- For drinks, there were self-serve coffee machines, a selection of teas, juices, and fruit infused waters (one cucumber and mint and the other lemon infused). The Americano I had from the coffee machine was tasty and definitely hit the spot! Disappointingly, Prosecco and Champagne were extra, at £14 and £28 a bottle, respectively. Interestingly to note, the lounge offers self-serve spirits and ‘pour your own pints’. I was very impressed with this rarity, as most contract lounges in the UK require you to stand in line with 20+ if you wanted a pre-takeoff tipple. A couple of red, whites and a rose were available, although I stayed away from this, and instead made my own Bloody Mary for my Pre-Takeoff Tipple Test. I gave this an 8.10/10 on my Instagram and Tiktok page; it was absolutely delicious!

Wi-Fi & Amenities
The lounge provides free Wi-Fi, which was fast and reliable. Power outlets are widely available, catering to those needing to charge devices or work on laptops. The toilets were perfectly clean, which you’d expect as the lounge had just opened.
Pros:
- Armchairs were comfy, and the hot breakfast food options were plentiful.
- Self-serve alcohol, with a Bloody Mary making stand and a ‘pour your own pint’ station.
- Outdoor seating and smoking area with apron views.
Cons:
- Smaller lounge than the No.1 so this may fill up quicker in peak hours.
- Staff opened the lounge 10 minutes late, although this was a minor point, and they were very polite overall.
Final Thoughts on My Lounge at Gatwick South Terminal
My Lounge at Gatwick South Terminal is an excellent choice for travellers looking for runway views (both inside and outside), as well as quirky DIY food and alcohol options. This lounge would definitely be worth a lounge pass in my view, and if you like to have a couple of pre-takeoff tipples, then those paying the £34 entry with a lounge card could easily get their money’s worth with the self-pour alcohol options! For a contract lounge, this is definitely one of the better ones that I have been to in the UK.
