During our visit, the lounge was relatively quiet and comfortable, with plenty of charging ports, reliable Wi-Fi and a surprisingly solid hot food selection. Check-In Experience
Check-in at the Lotus First Class Lounge Colombo was straightforward. There was no queue when we arrived and the reception staff were smiley and welcoming.
All we needed to do was scan our Priority Pass and boarding passes before being admitted into the lounge. The Wi-Fi password was also clearly displayed at the reception desk, meaning we were able to connect almost immediately after entering.

Seating and Atmosphere
Our first impression of the Lotus First Class Lounge Colombo was that parts of the interior looked fairly tired. The red carpets in particular looked dated and gave the lounge a slightly old-fashioned appearance.
However, the furniture appeared considerably newer. Most of the seating consisted of cream leather armchairs, which were actually quite comfortable and provided a perfectly reasonable place to relax before a flight.
The lounge itself is relatively small, although it was reasonably empty during our visit and finding somewhere to sit was easy. There was a television positioned in the middle of the lounge showing the news. We were not particularly keen on the bright white strip lighting, which made parts of the lounge feel slightly clinical. However, smaller lamps positioned alongside some of the armchairs created a more ambient atmosphere and made those seating areas feel considerably more comfortable.
One of the lounge’s stronger features was the availability of charging ports. There were plenty positioned alongside the armchair seats, making it easy to recharge phones and other devices before a flight.
Views and Natural Light
The Lotus First Class Lounge Colombo has windows, although unfortunately there is no particularly impressive view. There are no meaningful apron or runway views, so passengers hoping to spend their time watching aircraft movements are likely to be disappointed.
The windows do allow some natural light into the lounge, but the lack of an interesting outlook means the views are not a notable feature.
Food at the Lotus First Class Lounge Colombo
The food selection was actually pretty solid for a contract lounge.
The first thing to note is that both the food and drinks are entirely self-service.
The buffet was presented in large polished silver serving dishes, and the staff did a very solid job of keeping the area clean throughout our visit. Food was replenished regularly and the buffet remained spotless.
The hot food selection consisted primarily of Asian dishes, including:
- Stir-fried noodles
- Stir-fried mixed seafood
- Sri Lankan curry
- Mixed vegetables
There were several proper hot dishes available, meaning passengers could easily put together a substantial meal rather than relying solely on snacks.
The cold buffet and salad section included:
- Gherkins
- Prunes
- Olives
- Green salad
- Pea salad
- Sandwiches
- Cheese and biscuits
The overall food selection was not extensive, but there were several hot dishes and enough variety to put together a decent meal.
More importantly, the food we tried was tasty enough.
For a relatively small contract lounge, the buffet was one of the stronger aspects of our visit.
Drinks
The drinks selection at the Lotus First Class Lounge Colombo was reasonable.
Everything is self-service, so unfortunately there is no staffed bar or made-to-order cocktail menu.
The soft drink refrigerators were stocked with:
- Coke
- Coke Zero
- Sprite
- Bitter Lemon
- Fanta
- Schweppes Tonic Water
- Schweppes Soda Water
There was also a standard self-service coffee machine.
As you would expect when visiting Sri Lanka, the tea selection was particularly strong.
The lounge had a small dedicated tea section with a broad selection available, which was one of the more distinctive elements of the drinks offering.
For alcoholic drinks, the lounge offered:
- Carlsberg lager
- One red wine
- One white wine
- Gordon’s gin
- Bacardi white rum
- Absolut vodka
- Johnnie Walker Red Label
- Cointreau
- Chivas whisky
The wine selection was fairly basic, but the spirits selection was considerably stronger.
Overall, it was a respectable drinks selection for a contract lounge, particularly when it came to spirits and tea, although the basic wine selection and lack of a staffed bar prevent it from standing out.
Wi-Fi, Charging and Facilities
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the Lotus First Class Lounge Colombo. The password was clearly displayed at reception, allowing us to connect straight away after entering. The Wi-Fi worked well throughout our visit.
Charging facilities were another positive. There were plenty of charging ports positioned alongside the armchair seats, making it easy to recharge phones and other devices before a flight. This is particularly useful for passengers taking advantage of the lounge’s generous six-hour maximum stay.
Beyond this, there were no notable additional facilities.
Toilets
Toilets are available inside the Lotus First Class Lounge Colombo. They were fairly basic but clean during our visit.
There was nothing particularly luxurious about them, but they were well maintained and perfectly adequate.
Staff and Service
Our experience with the staff was positive. The reception staff were smiley and welcoming, while the check-in process was quick and straightforward. Inside the lounge, staff regularly replenished the buffet and did a particularly solid job of keeping the food area clean.

The Lotus First Class Lounge Colombo is worth visiting if you have Priority Pass and want somewhere comfortable to relax, eat and charge your devices before a flight. Its strongest features are the solid hot food selection, comfortable armchairs, reliable Wi-Fi, plentiful charging ports and generous six-hour maximum stay. However, the lounge is noticeably dated, with tired carpets, fairly harsh lighting, limited seating variety and no meaningful runway or apron views.
Overall, it is a comfortable and practical contract lounge rather than a luxurious first class experience.
