Location and Opening Hours at Vienna Airport
The two contract lounges are located in different parts of Vienna Airport.
The Vienna Lounge is located airside in Terminal 1 on Level 2, after security and before passport control. It is best positioned for passengers departing from the C and D gates. The Vienna Lounge is open daily from 4:30 AM until 10:00 PM.
Meanwhile, the SKY Lounge is located airside in Terminal 3 on Level 2, after security and before passport control. It is best positioned for passengers departing from the F and G gates. The SKY Lounge is open daily from 4:30 AM until 11:00 PM.
Because both lounges are positioned before passport control, they can be used by passengers travelling to both Schengen and non-Schengen destinations.
Importantly, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are connected airside. This means passengers do not necessarily need to choose the lounge located closest to their check-in area. However, you should always leave enough time to reach your departure gate, particularly if you still need to pass through passport control for a non-Schengen flight.

Seating and Atmosphere: Which Vienna Airport Lounge Is Better?
This is one of the areas where the Vienna Lounge establishes a substantial lead.
The Vienna Lounge is enormous, covering approximately 2,500 square metres. There are multiple seating zones containing armchairs, café-style tables, day beds, dining areas and quieter spaces. Huge floor-to-ceiling windows allow plenty of natural light into the lounge while providing panoramic views across Vienna Airport. However, the standout feature is the outdoor terrace. Being able to sit outside with a drink while watching aircraft around the airport is relatively unusual for a European contract lounge and makes the Vienna Lounge particularly impressive for anyone interested in aviation.
The SKY Lounge Vienna Airport Terminal 3 is considerably smaller at just over 7,000 square feet, although there is still a substantial amount of seating. Leather armchairs make up much of the main lounge, while dividers, plants and artwork help separate the space into smaller sections. There is also a separate café-style dining area. During our visit, the SKY Lounge was fairly empty and provided a peaceful environment before our flight. Unfortunately, its biggest weakness is impossible to ignore: there are no windows. There are no runway or apron views and very little natural light. Despite the comfortable seating, this makes the lounge feel considerably darker and more enclosed than the Vienna Lounge.
Food and Drinks: Which Vienna Airport Lounge Is Better?
The Vienna Lounge wins this category comfortably.
During our visit, the Vienna Lounge had one of the strongest food selections we have experienced in a European contract airport lounge. The standout dish was the beef goulash, with extremely tender beef and a rich sauce. Other hot dishes included Wiener schnitzel, creamy mushroom pasta and chicken curry. The cold buffet was similarly extensive, with salads, sandwiches, Austrian charcuterie and local cheeses. Dessert was another highlight. Traditional Austrian options included sachertorte and apple strudel, alongside a large selection of fresh cakes.
The drinks selection was equally impressive, with Austrian wines, spirits and beer. There was also an unusually extensive dedicated tea station containing more than ten different varieties of tea, with information about their origins and flavours.
The SKY Lounge also provides enough food for a proper pre-flight meal, but the selection is more modest.
During our August 2026 visit, the hot buffet contained:
- Chicken curry with rice
- Beef stew
- Meatloaf
The chicken curry was particularly tasty, while a salad bar, sandwiches, pastries, fruit, nuts and crisps provided additional options. Dessert was one of the stronger parts of the buffet, with fresh brownies, cakes and an enjoyable apple strudel providing another Austrian touch.
Drinks included local Zwettler lager, red and white wine, soft drinks and spirits including Smirnoff Vodka, Bacardi, gin, Hennessy, Jameson and Campari. However, we did not see any Champagne, Prosecco or other sparkling wine during our visit. The drinks were also presented on a relatively basic self-service table rather than in a dedicated bar area.
The SKY Lounge provides a respectable contract lounge buffet, but the Vienna Lounge is in a different league for overall variety and quality.
Wi-Fi, Power and Amenities
Both Vienna Airport lounges provide the main facilities most passengers need before a flight.
The Vienna Lounge had fast and reliable Wi-Fi during our visit, alongside plentiful charging points and USB sockets. There are toilets inside the lounge, shower facilities, relaxation areas, day beds, a children’s zone and newspapers and magazines. The enormous outdoor terrace is another major advantage and arguably one of the best features of either lounge.
The SKY Lounge also performs well from a practical perspective. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable during our visit, while charging ports were conveniently positioned next to many of the leather armchairs. There is also a small workstation containing a couple of desks, several departure screens and magazines. Complimentary shower facilities are available as well, although there is only one shower cubicle. This means passengers could face a wait during busier periods.

The best paid lounge at Vienna Airport is the Vienna Lounge in Terminal 1. This is not an especially close contest to be honest.
The Vienna Lounge combines an enormous 2,500-square-metre interior with panoramic airport views, an outdoor terrace, an impressive Austrian buffet, a large drinks selection and varied seating. It is one of the strongest contract airport lounges we have visited in Europe and feels much closer to a high-end airline business class lounge than a typical pay-to-use airport lounge.
However, the SKY Lounge Vienna Airport Terminal 3 remains a perfectly reasonable alternative. At approximately £32 (€37) per person at LoungePair.com, it is around £16 cheaper than the Vienna Lounge and provides hot food, alcoholic drinks, comfortable seating, fast Wi-Fi, charging ports and a complimentary shower.
If price is your main consideration, the SKY Lounge delivers most of the practical benefits passengers expect from an airport lounge for less.
However, the lack of windows significantly affects the atmosphere. Once you compare its dark interior and relatively basic drinks setup with the Vienna Lounge’s enormous windows, outdoor terrace, extensive buffet and premium Austrian touches, the difference becomes clear.
For us, paying approximately £48 (€55) at LoungePair.com for the Vienna Lounge represents better overall value despite the higher entry price.
